========================================
What is a screening test?
A screening test is a test that gives you a qualitative (positive/negative) result at
the recommended cut off levels.
How accurate are your tests?
Our tests have been verified at an independent test sites (including Johns Hopkins
University) . They have been compared to machine based tests and have been
proven to be 98 - 99% accurate.
Can I put less than three drops of urine in the test?
NO, the test will not run properly.
Am I able to get the level of the drug with your test?
No, we do not give levels, just positive/negative.
Will your test hold up in court?
No, these are just a screen. All positives need to be confirmed.
========================================
What should you do with a positive test result?
All positives should be considered presumptive and should be sent for
confirmatory testing. The most popular method is Gas Chromatography Mass
Spectroscopy, an instrument used to test the sample to identify drugs of abuse.
This is the confirmatory testing. It will measure the levels of the drug in the urine
and make sure it is actually an illegal narcotic and not an over-the-counter
medication. For pre-employment most business do not confirm.
If the potential employee is currently on a prescription or over the counter
medication, as noted before taking the test, and they show positive, they can either
retake the test at a later date or bring in the prescription medication to prove the
positive is not illegal.
If a positive should occur of either THC (Marijuana) or cocaine, please note there
are no cross reactive over the counter or prescription medications for these two
drugs.
For what reason would your test show positive and the confirmatory test
show negative?
Our test may have picked up an over-the-counter medication or prescription.
The confirmatory test will decipher the difference.
Why is the control line not showing?
If the control line is not showing then please re-read the instructions enclosed
and follow the literature with instructions enclosed and try the test again.
Or
The control line did not show because you may have flooded the test by putting
too much urine in it or urine was added too fast.
When only the test line shows up, is it a positive result?
NO, in this instance the control line did not show up, therefore the test is invalid.
For a positive test, only the control line will be visible.
I got a positive result on Methamphetamine when a person was taking
pseudoephedrine sinus medication. What should I do?
Check the cross-reactant guide under the heading of METHAMPHETAMINE and
look for the possible cross-reactant drug. Pseudoephedrine is listed as a
possible cross-reactant for Methamphetamine. Retest the person 4-5 days after
they have not taken the medication.
=================== ====================
How long do various drugs stay in a person’s system?
It varies, please call us for more detailed information.
Which category covers Ecstasy?
Methamphetamines
Are Morphine, Opiates, and Heroin the same kind of drug?
Yes, they are all tested using the morphine test. These drugs are from the same
family of drugs.
What is the difference between Methamphetamine/Amphetamine?
Amphetamine covers only 2 – 3 narcotic drugs, where is Methamphetamine covers
others in addition to those 2 – 3. Please call us for more information.
========================================
Does the Sun Biomedical Laboratories’ (SBL) product need to be
refrigerated?
No, the products are formulated, so they do not need to be refrigerated.
What is the shelf life for Alcostat®?
If the package for Alcostat® is not open, then it is good for one year.
Once opened, the life is reduced to 4 months. The reason is that the tests are air
sensitive.
I opened a pouch that I am not going to use right away. Can I save it?
NO, once a pouch is opened it must be used.
Can I customize different products to test for a combination of different
drugs?
Yes, we can customize the VisuaLine® and SunLine® product lines to test for
different drugs. For both product lines, we can create panels which include 2 -10
of the drugs of abuse tests mentioned below.
